I went to New York City during the summer of 2006....and I worked painting Public School 158 and East Side Middle School. I worked through Paint The Town, a Southern Baptist organization set up to help new church plants make a name for themselves within the communities they desire to reach. Apostle’s church was the church that has many of it’s children attend PS158 and ESMS, so they were natural to adopt the building. We painted about 50% of the building in 6 weeks. My teams that came in did an excellent job of praying for the students, thereby making an eternal impact beyond a coat of paint.
Additionally, I visited Redeemer Presbyterian Church (met at FBC), went to a few Yankees games, watched Italy win the world cup IN Little Italy, saw some sights (and a few broadway shows), and hung out with some of the coolest people i know. I lived in Times Square, then Queens, then the Bronx, and then in a small apartment near Penn Station. I miss New York City.
